Strawberry Fields

The strawberries have been on for two weeks now and are starting to taper off, thank goodness! The Jams and Jellies have been made and berries have been sliced and sugared for the freezer. Next up will be the red currants!

Our Newest Additions

25 chicks came in the mail yesterday from Murray McMurray Hatchery in Iowa. 15 straight run Partridge Rocks that we use as our layers and 10 Buff Silkie Bantams for Abby to show at the fair.

We purchased "Sebastian" at the Supreme Goat Sale held in Argos, IN from Chad Zahner. He is a nice black head BoerX market goat for Haley.

The trip to the barn Sunday morning greeted us with twin doe kids from Cinnamon. They were all curled up, snoozing away peacefully when we went to check on her. The one is all red and the other a gorgeous red paint.

Welcome

We live on 10 acres in Northern Indiana. We were both raised in the country and were happy to get back to the quiet of a rural area. We moved here in 2002 and have been steadily ‘filling up’ our homestead. We have an orchard with 60+ trees on the front of our property and almost every type of berry you can think of in the back. In between are the house and the Green Barn which is home to our goats, chickens and rabbits. Our girls are very active in 4-H and enjoy caring for and showing the animals that we raise.
