When they are first born they look like a Black kit. However, they will have pink bellies
and the inside of their ears will be light colored.

Tummy of an Opal kit 9 days old.
Opal on top. They are very dark gray looking with white tummy and Agouti markings when
born.
Opal on top, then blue, frosty on bottom. The blue and opal look alike except, the Opals

Per Laura Lyon: The squirrels I have had were not born pink, but a light silver-grey, and then rapidly got more color.
When their fur came it it was blue (not as dark as a self blue but not white), and had pink (then white) agouti marked belly/eye circles/ear/nostril lacing.
They looked like black chins only paler blue where the black would be.

Hour old kits. Look very similar to a broken black kit at birth. However, the black quickly turns to
a brownish color within a few days. The inside of the ears are light colored on a Chestnut. |
